Cindy Alexander is a Principal Financial Economist at the SEC and Affiliate Faculty at George Mason University.
At the SEC, she serves in the Office of Asset Management, DERA, specializing in the economics of financial market regulation. She joined the SEC from the Justice Department, Antitrust Division, after serving as Senior Economist, Council of Economic Advisers, EOP. She earned her PhD in Economics at UCLA and her published work appears in the Journal of Law and Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, and the Journal of Accounting and Economics, North Carolina Law Review and Yale Journal on Regulation, and Criminal Law.
Her research into the economics of corporate crime stems from her affiliation with the Law and Economics Center, Scalia Law School, George Mason University, in addition to previous appointments at the University of Chicago as Victor Kramer Fellow, Center for the Study of Corporate Law at Yale Law School and the Owen School at Vanderbilt University.
